Senior’s Dinner 2017
You can never be too early to book the event of the year. Thursday 5th October 2017 may seem a long way away, but tickets will be in great demand so get in quick!
The enclosed letters are acknowledgements of the money that the Blairgowrie Senior Section, and our visiting clubs gave so generously during the 2016 Season. I'm sure you will agree that they are both very worthwhile charities to have supported, and thanks to everyone who gave so generously.
A most enjoyable evening was held at our club which was attended by 65 members (including Dad’s Army). Ian McPherson, as usual organised a splendid event, ably supported by his Clan Chief Sir William McPherson who gave a most humorous pre-dinner speech. We also welcomed our after dinner Guest Speaker Sir Craig Reedie who gave us a most informative and entertaining talk about his antics as Chairmanship of the British Olympic Association and more recently World Anti-doping.
Our meal provided by Jayne & Paul with ample food & wines served by our lovely ladies was greatly appreciated.
So, many thanks to all our members who participated in our home & away matches during the season, but amazingly that’s all the Senior matches over for 2016. Remember to keep doing your exercises and weight training to be ready for the 2017 season!
Gentlemen - Due to extreme Scottish summer weather our away match against Ladybank on 8th September was postponed. Ladybank have kindly offered us Wednesday 21st September for a re-match. Many of the original team were unable to participate on the revised date, however, we have managed to assemble a strong and willing team all gnashing at the bit.....See weather forecast below. A quick round is required to avoid a shower! We are slightly ahead after the Home match on 17th May: Blairgowrie 4.5 - 3.5 Ladybank
Meet at 11:00 would give us a more leisurely start. David Paterson will be your Captain for this match. Good luck. Graeme Hunter Monday 19th Sept. 08:08am
PS: Blairgowrie are only giving 51 shots, so an interesting game! - 20/9/16 @ 6pm
Please meet at the clubhouse at 11:45am fro refreshments and Sandwich Lunch before Tee-off at 1:00pm. There will be a meal after the Golf. This match started in 2000 and results since then are St Andrews 13 Blairgowrie 3. The match is played for the Bali Dodo Trophy and although we have lost almost every year, we did manage to win last year. However, we are down 31/2 to 4 1/2 from the away fixture earlier this year, so it's all to play for and it would be good to retain the trophy.
The bus leaves Broxden
Park & Ride Perth at 07.30am and then at the Clubhouse in
Blairgowrie at 8.00am. We should arrive at Royal Aberdeen in time for coffee and sandwiches before first Tee-off at 11:00am. There will be a meal after the match.
Subject to traffic the bus should arrive at RA at ±10:00am. It’s 76 miles from BGC, so we have to leave at 08:00am sharp.
Fergus Young is your Captain for this match against Ferntower Seniors Crieff at home. As usual, please meet at our clubhouse at 11:45am for refreshments and sandwich lunch. Tee off 1pm. There will be a meal after the game.
Your team Captain for this match is David Rice. Please assemble at the clubhouse for refreshments at 11:45am, followed by a Sandwich lunch before tee off at 1:00pm. There will be a meal after the match.
